White sandy beaches, deep blue ocean and fruity drinks with little umbrellas will always have a certain appeal to it but when I go on vacation I want to have an adventure. Â I recently came across REI Adventures and thought now this is the way to travel! Â They offer trips all across the world along with a wide variety of activities from climbing, hiking, rafting and more. Â The best part is you don’t have to be an all star athlete to embark on an REI adventure, active trips are offered for every skill level. Â I also love that most trips include meals, accomadations, camping gear (if needed) and equipment (such as bikes, kayaks, etc.). Â All you have to do is pack a backpack and head to your destination. Â If I were to take one of these trips today it would definitely be to Alaska. Â To give you an idea, this is a summary of what I would be doing on a 7 day trip:
Day 1 - Kayaking in Seward Day 2 - Kayaking in Seward Day 3 - Hiking at Harding Ice Field Day 4 - Kayaking to Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Day 5 - Hiking in Homer Day 6 - Mountain biking in Chugach National Forest Day 7 - White water rafting in SterlingWow! Â I can’t imagine what an amazing trip that would be! Â Not only would it be the trip of a lifetime but I’d come home in better shape than when I left. Â So if you’re looking for an alternative from the typical honeymoon, I think this is the way to go! Â Check out www.rei.com/adventures for all the details!Â
The lovely Paige & Laura of L’amour de Vie have contributed the most beautiful weddings to IN Weddings. The first being Kate & Matt, married last year at the Cheyenne Lodge at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. I am very excited about the Real Weddings section of this site. In the coming weeks we’ll be adding many real Colorado weddings to this section. As we add them to the site, I’ll be sure to highlight them here on the blog. We hope you are inspired by these beautiful Rocky Mountain weddings.
First off is Kasey & Taylor’s wedding in Breckenridge, Colorado. Kasey planned their Breckenridge wedding from Denver along with the help of wedding coordinator Keri Scott. The day of the wedding Kasey & Taylor dealt with the inevitable-unpredictable Colorado weather. Heavy rain an hour prior to the ceremony didn’t mean the ceremony would be moved inside. It passed just in time to leave the ceremony plans uninterrupted. I love the contrast of the bridesmaids red dresses and colorful bouquets against the dark, stormy sky. Kasey & Taylor’s personal touch could be found all throughout their wedding. Taylor surprised his groomsmen with personalized cuff links, their guest book table was filled with wedding photographs of the bride and groom’s parents and grandparents and Taylor’s dad flawlessly sang to Kasey & her father for the father/daughter dance.
