Last week we shared with you the beautiful images that L’amour de Vie shared with us of Kate & Matt’s Colorado Springs wedding at the Broadmoor Hotel. Â This week Kate has stopped by IN Weddings to share the inside scoop with us. Â Thanks Kate!
When and where did you get married? June 30, 2007 at the Cheyenne Mountain Lodge at the Broadmoor Hotel. What was your favorite part about your location? It was important for us to have both the ceremony and the reception all in one place and not have to transport our guests from one place to another. And, the views are breathtaking! The Lodge offers stunning mountain views coupled with a spanning view of the city of Colorado Springs at night. How long did you take to plan your wedding? Roughly one year. We got engaged May 27, 2006 Would you liked to have had more time to plan? It was just about perfect! Enough time that I got to incorporate lots of personal touches, but short enough that the process didn’t drag on and on. Whether your budget was large or small, any tips on sticking to your budget? Find out what your passion is and put your money there. Love flowers? Build more money into your budget for the florist. Crazy for stationary? Devote more time, attention and money to the invitations. Create a budget reflective of your passions - and you are sure to be happy! Is there any particular thing that made the planning process easier? My mother! She was on site in Colorado Springs to assist with the planning process, as I lived in New York at the time. The wedding would not have come together without her! Thanks, Cherryl! The question every girl wants to know, where did you find your dress? I first spotted my gorgeous Carolina Herrera dress at Andrisen Morton in Cherry Creek. I tried it on there but ended up buying it in New York at Kleinfeld Bridal for a more convenient fitting schedule. Did you plan any activities for your out of town guests? It was very important for our guest to have a great time and feel very special. They came a long way to celebrate with us and we wanted to show them our appreciation! We invited all out of towners to the rehearsal dinner, and to a post-wedding brunch hosted by some family friends. And, my dad planned a golf tournament for the boys! Where did you have your rehearsal dinner? At the Cheyenne Mountain Resort - it was a pool side barbeque! It was perfect because everyone was able to kick back and get to know each other in an open, relaxed environment. What was your favorite part of your wedding day? I loved seeing my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle. It was also very special to have our loved ones in one place to see us tie the knot and celebrate with us. If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently? Nope! I had an amazing time and wish I could do it all over again! Who are some of your favorite vendors that were a part of your wedding? I loved our aisle runner!! The Original Runner Company I also LOVED our photographe - Laura Esmond of Hannah Photography - L’amour de Vie Our florist was amazing - Designworks Bridesmaid dresses: Vera Wang Groomsmen attire: Jos. A. Banks Any advice for brides planning their Colorado weddings this year? Embrace the beauty of Colorado! Lots of people told us to have a “theme” for our wedding. Our theme became Colorado - we incorporated it into lots of our elements and everything turned out just great! What will you remember most about your wedding day? How happy we were - it was so wonderful - more than we could have hoped for. I will also remember my father’s speech, it was amazing!Â
